How is the qmail mail system setup?

qmail documentation and installed packages on the CAT system

qmail is a Debian packages, installed via dpkg (or apt-get). To get more info via the Debian package management system, use

$ dpkg -s qmail

qmail is documented in /usr/doc/qmail.

qmail conf files are in /etc/qmail

alias files are in /var/lib/qmail/alias. They are dotfiles (.qmail-*) so do a ls -la (the a is important - man ls )

helper packages installed are fastforward (for using old style /etc/aliases files) and dot-forward (for using .forward files)

virtual email domains have been setup , using qmailadmin and vpopmail packages. qmailadmin is at http://www.cat.org.au/cgi-bin/qmailadmin and is documented in /usr/share/doc/qmailadmin Vpopmail is documented in /usr/share/doc/vpopmail
