Registering a domain name

Have a look on the web, or mail to a list for a company that
can register a domain name for you. Usually you are required
to submit a search to ensure the name's available... (You can
usually do this on their site even if you're just window
shopping or trying to decide on a name) You specify your email
details, organisation etc, then pay by credit card. Within
around 48 hours your name registration will be confirmed, the
details being e-mailed to you. These are pretty standard
              prices at the moment:
              .com.au - $121 for 2 years (price includes gst) .net.au -
$137.50 for 2 years (price includes gst) .com / .net / .org -
              $30 per year
Important: Check out http://www.internic.net/ They state that
"This website has been established to provide the public
information regarding Internet domain name registration
              services."
You can decide which server hosts your domain name and site.
(Just confirm this with the company you wish to register your
name with.) For more info on hosting and nameservers check
out other faq entries in this subcategory.
